HAMBURG WANTS TO ATTRACT HOTEL IN-
VESTORS
After the Elbe Philharmonic Hall
opened with a lot of pomp, Hamburg is
now focusing on positioning itself at MI-
PIM as a popular travel destination and
is offering attractive opportunities to in-
vestors in the hotel sector. According to
the Hamburg Economic Development
Agency (HWF), there is pent-up demand
here, at the same time with a great deal
of potential – particularly in the area of
conference and convention hotels and in
the MICE segment.
Bavaria’s capital city, Munich, is locat-
ed in the Riviera Hall (R7.G16). They will
be presenting the topic of digitalization
with several pilot projects – in line with
the main theme of MIPIM. Amongst oth-

estate fair early on. According to the
head of the trade fair, Filippo Rean, the
digital revolution has led to a profound
change in the global economy and even
accelerated the necessary changes (see also
the interview).
As every year, the most influential
experts from various market activities,
such as the office, residential building,
retail, health, sport, logistics and indus-
trial segments, will be coming together at
MIPIM. For the primarily globally orient-
ed companies, MIPIM in addition to the
Expo Real in Munich is a must. Demand

MIPIM 2017 Seeks to be

Start-ups from Germany will this time
also play a role and present themselves
and their business ideas.
As in previous years, the German real
estate strongholds and metropolitan re-
gions will be more than represented with
new projects and countless companies in
tow. The Berlin Senate Administration
for Urban Development and the Environ-
ment has again assumed sponsorship of
the Berlin-Brandenburg joint stand (P4.
C10). Together with the business devel-
opment organization and other compa-
nies involved in Berlin, it informs visitors
about current “future locations” and new
residential building projects.
