Methodology: Qualitative analysis of successful Italian and Japanese CEOs’ leadership approaches, focusing on servant leadership characteristics and cultural differences. Practical implications: Interpretations of servant leadership behaviours differ across cultural contexts. Building on our qualitative analysis, insights from Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, and servant leadership literature, we explain how servant leaders can adapt their leadership behaviours to cultural differences.
